Name: Shani
Also answers to: Sharnee, Shania, Shane, and “can you just make this pop?”
What I do:
I uncover the root causes of organisational challenges and build solutions that shift behaviour, without making anyone sit through a 72-slide lecture.
Why I do it:
Because most workplace learning is forgettable at best and stressful at worst. Some people fight to save the whales or fund public broadcasting. I fight for the rights of grown-ups to never click through another painful eLearn with locked navigation.
My approach:
Wildly creative yet highly analytical, my approach is shaped by systems thinking, the scrappiness and savvy of a multi-time entrepreneurship, and strong marketing instincts. It means I approach learning as a puzzle, story, strategy, and campaign — all rolled into one. I don’t just want people engaged; I want them changed.
Superpowers:
Untangling complexity, turning vague ideas into sharp learning solutions, and getting even the most skeptical people to participate in a workshop.
Go around the room and share a fun fact:
I once got a standing ovation from people watching me doing a perfect parallel park during peak hour in a busy street. And yes, that was one of the proudest moments of my life.
About Me
For a long time, I didn’t think I was the kind of person who could share their work publicly. You might have had the same thoughts: “I’m not an expert yet”, “people will think I’m pretentious”, or “I wear too much purple to be taken seriously”.
But I’ve come to realise that one of the most important traits for those doing this work is courage.
The way I act courageously is by sharing thoughts and connecting with others, even (or especially) when my thoughts aren’t fully formed.
That’s what this website is for: it’s an experimental, digital zine full of reflections, resources, and rants.
Oh, and I like to ruffle feathers in the L&D industry (but it’s tough love - I just believe we could do so much better).
